The Chainsmokers to headline Ultra India in Mumbai and New Delhi

Ultra Music Festival will make their debut India this year and have announced New York duo The Chainsmokers to headline their maiden show in the South Asian country.

This will be a second major show in India after David Guetta and Axwell Ingrosso, who came in early January. The latter will be performing in Mumbai on September 7 and in New Delhi on September 8.

It has been a huge leap for for Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, more commonly known as ‘The Chainsmokers’ who last came to India in January 2016 when they performed in Pune at Sinhgad college’s annual fest Karandak.

India has been a growing hub for western music in the recent years with a massive boom especially in dance music and the fans there have been desperately waiting for a prominent global music show to take place in their backyard.

Ultra, one of world’s biggest music festivals are not the first internationally notable name to come in India but their interest and effort will surely help grow the music scene grow.

Other distinguished brands like Global Citizen Festival (Mumbai 2016) , Electric Daisy Carnival (New Delhi 2016), Sensation (Hyderabad 2016), Tomorrowland – Unite (Mumbai 2015, Hyderabad 2016) have had huge successes on their arrival.

The shows have been curated with, India’s Percept Live who own Sunburn festival and have undertaken the management and ticketing rights. They reported that the phase 1 tickets were sold out in less than a day after they went online.

Fans were expecting some more names in the lineup as EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) had thrown a celebrated three-day event featuring more than 15 artists over the course. The first ever Ultra India is expected to be sold out soon and hopefully kick start a new era of music.
