Virgin Media and O2 announce £31bn merger to overthrow BT as largest telecoms provider in the UK

Britain’s largest mobile network – O2 and second largest broadband network – Virgin Media have struck a deal worth £31.4bn to become the largest telecoms company in the UK serving over 60 million customers around the country.
